I've always thought that any given British city was one big football win away from anarchy. ;-)

But if "four meals" is really the full extent of the food supply available in a British city that's been cut off from trade... that's a frightening thought, and something that the British equivalent of Homeland Security ought to be thinking about quite seriously.

I'm hardly a "survivalist" but I'm certain I could make do for at least a week on the food and water in my pantry.

Personally I always have a freezer full of food, along with a fridge fully-stocked and fruits and veg hanging around the place. I think the point is that if the country was suddenly cut off from all imports and the infrastructure collapsed, it would take a little over a day (handily, 4 meals worth of time) for the looting to start. Regardless how much food people have in reserve, if they see people looting they start to think maybe they should join in.
